Camp USA’s Guide to Fall RV Travel!

The kids are heading back to school and summer cookouts may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean your RV adventures are over. Fall is one of our favorites times of the year, and for good reason. With the incredible foliage, college football games and racing events in abundance, there is plenty to do with friends & family… if you know where to go.

So, strap down those tailgating coolers and follow us on a journey to some of the best autumn events in 2017!

Stop #1 Miami University vs Florida State University

As a native Floridian you can’t help but enjoy college football, especially when they are Florida schools. This September is shaping up to be an epic display of college football starting with the Miami U and Seminoles game at the Doak S. Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. Whether you are alumni or just a fan of the game, this rivalry matchup is sure to entertain.

As you may know, the only way to prep for the game is by taking part in the tailgating festivities, and traveling by RV is a must. This will give you and your friends an opportunity to keep the tailgate atmosphere alive after the game is done. Keep in mind that parking for RV’s at the Stadium is only available to booster members, but there are plenty of campgrounds nearby that cater to the college football fans.

Stop #2 Tennessee

With autumn comes incredible foliage. Although many RV travelers may think New England is home to some of the best foliage displays, they clearly have never traveled to Tennessee. The Great Smoky Mountains are one of the most well known areas for fall foliage and can be seen in a number of ways.

Driving your RV is one of the best ways to see a variety of colors throughout the scenic area, however it doesn’t make a fun trip for the driver. With an array of hiking paths throughout the Smoky Mountain terrain, this will probably be your best bet. From there you will not only submerge yourself in the surroundings, but will have an opportunity to take breathtaking photos from a higher vantage point.

Stop #3 Homestead Miami Speedway

The final stop on our Fall RV Tour is to one of our favorite racing spots in the country, Homestead Miami Speedway. November 19th marks the start of the Ford EcoBoost 400, 300 and 200. It is rare to be able to enjoy three Nascar Championships within one weekend, and is why race fans will be coming from all over to enjoy a slice of history.

When it comes to traveling for a Nascar Race, hitting the road by RV just makes sense. With the Geico Camping Grounds located inside the speedway gates, this will allow you to enjoy some of the best tailgating and camping conditions just steps from the track. Keep in mind spots fill up early, so you will need to grab your RV Camping Package ASAP.
