There is nothing better than summertime travel. Renting an RV with friends and family and hitting the open road to enjoy a little sunshine and fresh air is what you might dream about all year long, and as far as we are concerned, it is never too early to get your summer vacation plans in line. 

Hitting up some of the south’s best vacation spots is always an idea, but traveling to the top fishing destinations is even better. So sit back, buckle up and follow us through some of the best hotspots for summer fishing. 

Andrew Jackson State Park in South Carolina

If you are looking for a little history, art and community events to go with your fishing trip, than Andrew Jackson State Park is your RV destination. The state park is equipped with living history programs that include a museum on Andrew Jacksons life, along with 18th century school replicas. In addition to the historical elements Andrew Jackson State park has beautiful campgrounds, nature trails and of course a fishing lakes available for use. 

What kind of fishing is available? Bass, bream, catfish and crappie fish fill the 18 acre state park lake. If you would like to rent a boat for your fishing excursion you can either hook it up to your RV or just borrow a rental. Fishing boat rentals range from $15/day to $3/per hour depending on your plans and vacation schedule. Keep in mind that a valid South Carolina fishing listen is required here.

While visiting the Andrew Jackson State Park in South Carolina you’re going to need a place to park your RV and this state park has great camping available right on the premises. Each site is equipped with individual water and electrical hookups and reservations have to be made a minimum of two nights.. and don’t forget about your furry friends this vacation, they are welcome too.

Smokies Angling Adventures in Tennessee

Bass fishing is in full swing during the summer months, and Tennessee offers some great spots to kick back and snag some great catches. Our next destination is to Douglas Lake in Sevierville Tennessee. This reservoir that stretches across 43 miles along the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains is one of the most beautiful fishing locations you will ever see. 

Each year around 1.7 million people visit Douglas Lake. As one of the top 5 crappie lakes in the US and one of the top 10 in the nation for largemouth bass fishing, Douglas Lake is a must for fishing enthusiasts. During he day you can enjoy the various scenic opportunities, but it is the nighttime during June, July and August when fishing is at its best. 

Where to stay? Mountain Cove Marina and Campground is a great spot to park your RV and enjoy the outdoors. Equipped with a sanitary dump station, laundry facility, boat launch and volley ball courts it is a great location for the entire family. Don’t feel like cooking? The Harbor Grill serves up the best food on Douglas Lake, so if you are looking for a night of pure relaxation make sure to check out their menu and enjoy!

Long Key State Park in Florida

Right in the middle of the Florida keys rests Long Key State Park. This popular destination offers beautiful aqua waters and ocean-front campsites. Along with fishing, Long Key State Park provides incredible hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and some of the worlds best bird watching. Keep in mind before visiting Long Key State Park make sure you are up to date on the latest fishing liscenes and regulations regarding size and fishing methods before anchoring in. 

Long Key State Park has one of the best campgrounds in the region offering direct views of the vast Atlantic Ocean. Water and electricity are provided at each campsite along with picnic tables and grills. Restaurants can be made up to 11 months in advance so no time is too early to get your scenic campsite.
